Power Your Golf Swing

As golfers, we all want to hit the ball FAR down the fairway. The good news is, you’re never too old to be able to improve your swing, strength, power and more. Our bodies are made to be strong and stay strong.

I’m not saying you don’t have to work at it. You do!

For some of us, we may need to modify things more (and that’s OK). Just know, your body is made to move, be strong, and move efficiently.

This is one of the reasons I love the TrueTurnPro (TTP). This medical device assists with improving your joint function, meaning…helping you move more efficiently and effectively. Again, it doesn’t matter how old you are, your body can always improve.

How does the TrueTurnPro (TTP) work?

What makes the TTP different is the contralateral arms. When you use this device, the contralateral arms connect to your collarbone area. Now, you’ve just isolated your upper body taking out your arms and shoulders to do the movement. Now your spine HAS to do the movement, not the shoulders and arms.

We get a false sense of rotation and side bend movements because of our shoulders and arms.

Give this a try…take your driver and hold it out in front of you shoulder height. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and start rotating to one side. KEY: Keep your hands/arms in the same position as you start. Go as far as your body will let you go.

When you stop because you think you can't go any farther, see if your arms and shoulders will keep moving. Most likely - YES! This is the false sense of rotation.

TrueTurnPro Exercises

  • Adjust your TrueTurnPro to your settings following the TTP directions

  • Starting in flat plane, feet shoulder width apart.

  • As you go into a squat, rotate to the right at the same time.

  • As you come back to standing, rotate back to center

  • Repeat on the other side

  • Reps: 5-8 on each side; 2 sets

What is this exercise working on:Thoracic Rotation and Internal Hip Rotation

The corkscrew squat is helping your thoracic spine to open up and move more efficiently which takes pressure off your low-back. Your hips are learning to generate power. If you don’t have an efficient internal hip rotation, the TTP will help your hips become more mobile and stronger.

For more of a challenge:add resistance to one end.

Side Lunge and Rotate

  • Flat plane position. Start this exercise without resistance and for more of a challenge, add resistance. Anchor point is to your right side.

  • Moving to the left: Side lunge to the left and rotate to the left while you are in the lunge position.

  • Step back to center and repeat same side.

  • Make sure to keep breathing during this exercise. Exhale as you are rotating.

  • Draw your abs in.

  • When coming back to the starting position, push through your left heel.

More Challenge:

  • Bring your knee up when you are coming back to the starting position. This will add in a balance challenge.

  • Add resistance to one end of the TTP. This will add significant impact to this exercise.

1 Legged - Wall Rotation

  • Stand with your back to a wall about 12” away.

  • Place 1 foot flat on the wall and cross arms across your chest

  • Hinge at the hips keeping a flat back as if you’re in a 7 iron position

  • IMPORTANT:Press your foot into the wall and press foot into the ground at the same time while you are rotating.

  • Rotate to the right and then to the left. Keep pressing your foot into the wall as you rotate.

Added Challenge:

  • Do this exercise with the TTP. You’ll get more rotation with the device. Since you’re working on rotation with this exercise, the TTP is a great assist.

1 legged Wall Rotation with TrueTurnPro

When we can isolate our upper body and have our thoracic spine actually do the rotation, you're improving your joint function. When our thoracic spine has more mobility, the lumbar spine can do its job - flexion and extension. Golfers get low-back pain when the thoracic spine isn't mobile and the lumbar spine tries to do that job.
